A Guide to Economy 7 Storage Heaters In Your Home
Oct 5th, 2011 Lawrence White
Many people already have electric storage heaters within their home to keep them toasty and warm throughout the extremely cold weather in the UK. These storage heaters will use the majority of their energy in the night time hours in order to be able to release constant heat throughout the day. If you are one of the people that have this type of heating in your home, it is important for you to consider switching to Economy 7, if you haven't already done so.
Those that already have Economy 7 storage heaters should be finding that it is a far more cost effective way to continue to run these types of heaters, considering that they run all night using up the electricity anyway. It sounds like a really good idea to at least look for a cheaper night time rate, and this is exactly what it offers.
When your heater is running all night, the electricity that you are currently using is probably costing you a bucket load. Using Economy's storage heaters, you will find that energy usage is greater during the night and much lower during the day. Economy 7 is a cost effective way to not only heat up your home, but to also use other energy zapping appliances in your home, such as the washing machine. Although you would probably need to put your load in the washing machine after it reaches midnight, it could be well worth the energy savings in the long run.
Basically, anyone that uses a lot of electricity during the night, particularly those that have the electric storage heaters, needs to look at Economy 7 in detail to find out whether the savings will be worth it for them. In order to switch to Economy it will require that your meter be changed, this shouldn't be a major problem, as your current electricity provider should be able to take care of this for you, although they may charge you a fee for doing so.
Once your Economy 7 is up and running, you can then look further into the charges that are being imposed by your current provider and you will be at liberty to change providers if you so desire. This will ensure you get the cheapest Economy rate possible, without compromising the warmth of your home.
As mentioned previously, although this service is fabulous for those with electric heaters, it also means that if you have any other appliances within your home that also run during the night, you will be able to take advantage of the lower rate during this time.
The one thing that you do need to be sure of, however, is that the daytime electricity charges are not higher in order to compensate for the lower price during the night.
You need to warm up your house anyway, and your electric heater is going to be working hard all night to ensure that this happens, so you may as well take advantage of the discount offers that Economy 7 can provide.About the Author:
